Tom serves as President of the firm. His general business-oriented practice includes extensive work in the areas of general corporate law, contracts, real estate, mergers, tax exemption and the formation and operation of both nonprofit and for-profit entities.  He also devotes substantial time to all phases of estate and trust planning, estate and trust administration, and probate matters. 

An Omaha, Nebraska native, Tom attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha for one year and then transferred to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in finance and minored in history.  During his college career, Tom became a member of two honorary societies, Pi Gamma Mu and Beta Gamma Sigma.  In graduating summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973, Tom received the Herbert S. Steuer Award as the outstanding graduating senior.

Following college, Tom entered law school at the University of Michigan, where he was elected to the Barrister’s Society and received his law degree in 1976.  Tom joined the firm in 1977.

Since 2008, Tom has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the field of Corporate Law and has earned the AV Preeminent designation in Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™, the gold standard in attorney ratings.  He is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Nebraska State Bar Foundation. 

Tom is a member of the American, Nebraska and Omaha Bar Associations.
